Program: "Meet Africa" -- Charity Lunch with AWAAJ --
Our honorary member Mme. Solange Weya, wife of Ambassador of Cote d’Ivoire and President of the Association of Wives of African Ambassadors in Japan (AWAAJ), kindly offered us a great opportunity to “Meet Africa,” saying "It is time for us to work hand in hand for a better world through shared experiences and exchanges."
Mme. Maria de Fatima Xavier, wife of Ambassador of Angola, also kindly offered the Embassy of Angola as the Meeting place.
Firstly, the ladies of AWAAJ appeared in a fashion show to make their introductions -- Mme. Alphonsine Ndzengue (Cameroon), Mme. Solange Weya (Cote d'Ivoire), Mme. Nantenin Sylla (Guinea), Mme. Rose Maina (Kenya), Mme. Nompumelelo Abu-Basutu (Zimbabwe), Mme. Ana Ruth de Noronha Menezes (Mozambique), Mme. Habibatu Yisa (Nigeria), Mme. Edwige Adechoubou (Benin), Mme. Ramla Brahim (Mauritania), Mme. Emilie Ciss Seck (Senegal), Mme. Houda Elloumi (Tunisia), and Mme. Maria de Fatima Xavier (Angola).
After the show, Mme. Olivia Batjobo (Burkina Faso) also joined us.
We enjoyed talking with the ladies of AWAAJ, having African buffet lunch.
A picture painted by Mme. Maria de Fatima Xavier was up for auction, and ethnic cloths, accessories, and bowls were available at a charity bazaar. Lastly, we danced, danced, and danced. It was an exciting afternoon.
There were 78 attendees from TWC and 13 from AWAAJ.
