We took a delightful half-day trip to get away from busy Tokyo and visit the beautiful Engaku-ji Temple, which was founded in 1282 as a Zen temple in Kita-Kamakura, where we took a guided tour.

Luckily, the weather was fine and the cherry trees were in full blossom.

They allowed the Tokyo Women's Club a special visit to the Shariden (Reliquary Hall), a national treasure usually open to public only three times a year. Particularly, the talk about the life of monks practicing asceticism was very interesting.

Following the temple visit, we enjoyed Japanese cuisine at the famous local restaurant “Gento-An.” The restaurant used to be a local residence and the traditional ambience still remains.

Cote d'Ivore Ambassador’s wife, Mme. Solange P. Weya, and 42 ladies of different nationalities took part in the outing.
